Jordan Lewis has written three books and edited a fourth on alliances, and lectured at the Columbia, Dartmouth, London, Northwestern, and Wharton business schools. He is most at home in the trenches, resolving the interpersonal, political, organizational, governance, mutual trust, and other issues that are often involved.

Lewis has spoken at major events sponsored by Fortune, Euromoney, Business Week, and Institutional Investor, around the world. He is a Fellow of the World Economic Forum, and has spoken at four of its annual meetings in Davos, Switzerland. Over the past 30 years Lewis has built—and often repaired—alliances for leading companies worldwide.

His work:

-Defines the cutting edge in building all forms of alliances—between companies and their customers, suppliers, competitors, and others

-Includes every aspect of alliances—judging the potential; diagnosing problems; and developing the strategic, inter-organizational, internal alignment, benefit sharing, joint planning, conflict resolution, trust-building, joint governance, and other elements of successful alliances

-Covers all major industries from services and manufacturing, consumer and industrial goods, to low- and high-technology

-Has ranged from $5-billion joint ventures to alliances between $100-million firms.

Lewis's three books—Trusted Partners (2000), The Connected Corporation (1995), and Partnerships for Profit (1990)—have been published in 12 languages. At Columbia Business School, he has lectured on alliances with business customers; at Dartmouth/Tuck, on alliances with and within the global firm; at London Business School, on alliance governance and management; at Northwestern/Kellogg, on alliances in E-commerce; and at Wharton, on alliances and organizational behavior. Previously, he taught the course on technology and management at Wharton.

Lewis is active throughout Asia, Europe, North and South America, and the Middle East. Among the companies he has advised are American Express, Du Pont, Ford, GE, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, IBM, Marriott, Merck, Procter & Gamble, Royal Bank of Scotland, Siemens, and Tesco.

As an entrepreneur, Lewis is involved in business startups and serves on the boards of companies in the U.S. and Europe. Recently, he initiated and led the turnaround of a high-technology firm whose investors include Ford and Du Pont. Separately, he chaired the panel on corporate governance for Institutional Investor. Aside from his business interests, Lewis volunteers his time to the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. At ICMEC, he chairs the board committee on global affiliate relations, and serves on the nominating and development committees.
