Jim Furyk is a professional golfer on the PGA Tour best known for his consistent play.
He learned to play golf from his dad, who was a head pro at Uniontown Country Club near Pittsburgh. While in high school, Jim was a standout basketball player as well as a state champion golfer. He went on to attend the University of Arizona and turned professional in 1992.
Between 1998 and 2003, Furyk won at least one PGA tournament each year. At the time, this was the second best streak of winning seasons. After taking some time off due to injury, Furyk's game has returned to top form. At the 2003 U.S. Open, he tied the record for the lowest 72-hole score in US Open history to win his first major championship.
He is currently ranked as the fifth best golfer in the world.In addition, he is a five-time member of the US Ryder Cup team.
