After an unsuccessful try-out for the Mickey Mouse Club at the age of 12, Jessica returned to her hometown to perform on the Christian Youth Concert Circuit.Her voice attracted the attention of Tommy Mottola of Columbia Records/ Sony Music for which she debuted her first album Sweet Kisses in 1999.
In 2001, she released her second album Irresistible, which was a smash hit going as high as # 3 on the Top 40 mainstream chart.
After some remixes she released a 3rd record in 2003 called In This Skin which debuted at #10 with sales of 64,000 in just it's first week. In 2004 a holiday album, Rejoyce: The Christmas Album, was also released.
Simpson's fifth album A Public Affair will be released this year on August 29 with Epic Records.
In 2002, Jessica Simpson married 98-degrees singer Nick Lachey and a year later they began a reality show based on their everyday life as a couple called Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. Simpson has been the recipient of three Teen Choice Awards: Female Fashion Icon, Hottie Female, and Female Reality/Variety TV Star for Newlyweds.
In 2005, her TV series also won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Reality Show.The couple also had their own variety special in December of that year. She has also appeared in The Twilight Zone on UPN, as well as on three episodes of That '70s Show.
In 2005, Jessica appeared on the big screen as "Daisy Duke" in the film version of The Dukes of Hazzard, debuting at number one on the U.S. box-office charts. She is also known for her remake of Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking", winning a People's Choice Award for Favorite Song from a Movie in 2006.
Prior to her marriage, Jessica also served as a role model for Christian girls throughout the world, promoting abstinence until marriage. Simpson is currently one of the main faces of Pro-Active Acne Treatment products, appearing in commercials along with celebrities such as Sean John and Kelly Clarkson.
She is in the process of finishing 2006 movie Employee of the Month and will soon begin filming Dallas, expected to appear in theaters in 2007.
