James Caan is not your typical Jewish actor. Afterall, not many Jewish actors were once regulars on the rodeo circuit. Or own a black belt in karate. Or have played football at Michigan State University. James Caan did it all.
Caan, who has been in countless movies, will best be remembered for what he did on the small screen in 1971.
Audiences were moved to tears as Caan put in a heart-rending performance as cancer-stricken Chicago Bears running back Brian Piccolo, the film was named Brian's song.
But in 1972, Caan was back on the big screen, and earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role as gangster Santino "Sonny" Corleone in the Mafia epic "The Godfather ".
These days you can see James Caan back on the small screen as Ed Deline on the hit NBC show "Las Vegas".
