He has served as Vice President of the Marketing Research Division of the American Marketing Association and he has taught numerous research seminars for the American Marketing Association. He is a lecturer at the Annual School of Marketing Research at the University of Notre Dame. A recognized author and speaker on marketing and research topics at numerous industry forums, Smith holds a doctorate in Mass Communications Research from the journalism school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He and his wife Joy make their home in Atlanta, Georgia.
