Hoyt Corkins is a professional poker player who has participated in the World Series of Poker. Hoyt started playing poker when he was 19 after receiving lessons from his father. He is known in the poker world as "Cowboy" because he always wears a cowboy hat and boots to the table.
Corkins won a World Series of Poker bracelet and $96,000 in 1992 at the Pot Limit Omaha tournament.After his win in 1992, he disappeared from the game for eleven years.He was encouraged to return to poker by his fiancée Natalie, and returned in 2003, by taking a then record-breaking first prize of $1,089,200 in the World Poker Finals.In 2004 at the PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure, Hoyt took second place earning him $290,065.In November 2005, Corkins finished second in the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions Free Roll, receiving $325,000.
As of 2006 his live tournament winnings exceed $2,100,000.When not playing poker, Hoyt enjoys being on his farm in Alabama. He also has a home in Las Vegas.
