Herm Edwards is the head football coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards' involvement with football is very extensive. He previously was a player in the NFL, playing for nine seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Edwards also played briefly with the Los Angeles Rams and Atlanta Falcons. Before being hired with the Chiefs, Edwards was the head coach of the New York Jets for four seasons.
Edwards began his football career while playing college football at the University of California, Monterey Peninsula Junior College, and San Diego State.
In the NFL, Edwards played nine seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles where he made his only trip to the Super Bowl. Edwards made a name for himself when he was involved in what has become known as "The Miracle at the Meadowlands."This occurred when the Giants led 17-12 and the Eagles had no timeouts remaining; but instead of simply taking the snap from center and taking a knee, Giants quarterback Joe Pisarcik attempted to hand the ball off to running back Larry Csonka. However, the ball came loose, and Edwards picked it up and returned it for a touchdown, enabling the Eagles to win 19-17.
Before Edwards got his head coaching position, he served as an assistant coach at San Jose State, an NFL scout and defensive backs coach with the Kansas City Chiefs, and an assistant head coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
