Ed McCaffery is a former American football wide receiver who played for the New York Giants (1991-1993), San Francisco 49ers (1994) and the Denver Broncos (1995-2003) of the NFL.
He was drafted by the New York Giants out of Stanford in the third round (83rd pick overall) of the 1991 NFL Draft. During his thirteen year career, he won three Super Bowl rings (in Super Bowl XXIX, Super Bowl XXXII and Super Bowl XXXIII) and made a Pro Bowl appearance in 1998. At Denver, he became a reliable target for hall of fame quarterback John Elway. He set a Broncos record for most receptions in a season (with 101 receptions in 2000), and had an exceptional performance in Super Bowl XXXIII, recording 5 catches for 72 yards.
On September 10, 2001, McCaffrey suffered a compound leg fracture while playing a Monday Night Football game with the Broncos. He rebounded in the 2002 season with 69 receptions and 903 yards, but, hampered by injuries, retired after a disappointing 2003 season.
McCaffrey finished his career with 565 career receptions for 7,422 yards and 55 touchdowns.
