Earl Klugh is a talented acoustic guitarist who considers Chet Atkins as being his most important influence.Klugh played on a Yusef Lateef album when he was 15 and gained recognition in 1971 for his contributions to George Benson's "White Rabbit" record.Klugh played regularly with George Benson in 1973 and was briefly a member of Return to Forever in 1974.
Klugh has been successful in his solo career inclucing the release of his album "Blue Note". His collaboration with pianist Bob James, "One on One", won a Grammy in 1979. He continued releasing solo albums before the sequel to "One on One", "Two of a Kind", appeared in 1982.In 1984 Earl Klugh released one of his most popular albums, "Soda Fountain Shuffle" and followed with his biggest artistic impression in 1989 with the self-explanatory "Solo Guitar".
Two years later Earl would return to the "serious jazz" range of Solo Guitar, along with bassist Ralphe Armstrong and drummer Gene Dunlap, forming "The Earl Klugh Trio".
He continued to work with Bob James for three more smooth releases for the Warner Brothers family before the change to Windham Hill with 1999's "Peculiar Situation".Klugh released "Naked Guitar", in 2005, a stripped down and raw album for the Koch label.
