Doyle Brunson is a professional poker player, best known for becoming the first player to earn $1 million in poker tournaments. Throughout Brunson's poker career, he has won ten World Series of Poker main events. In 1976 and 1977, he became one of only four players to have won consecutive main events at the World Series of Poker.
Brunson began his poker days by playing five card draw. After graduating from Hardin-Simmons University he took a job as a business machines salesman. On his first day of work, he was invited to play in a seven-card stud game and earned over a month's salary in less than three hours. He soon left the company and became a professional poker player.
Today, Brunson continues to play in the biggest poker games in the world. In 2004, he won the Legends of Poker World Poker Tour event and in 2005 won his 10th gold bracelet. Most recently, you can find Brunson on the Game Show Network series, "High Stakes Poker." To date, his career winnings exceed $4.3 million.
When not playing poker, Brunson enjoys writing books about poker. His first book, considered to be the bible of poker is titled "Doyle Brunson's Super System: A Course in Power Poker." He is also the author of "Poker Wisdom of a Champion."
