Davis Love III is one of the most popular players on the PGA Tour.
Love began playing golf when his father, Davis Love II, introduced him to the game. His father was a former pro and nationally recognized golf instructor. Love attended the University of North Carolina where he was a three-time All-American and All-Atlantic Coast Conference golfer. During his collegiate career, he won six titles including the ACC tournament championship.
In 1985, Davis decided to turn professional. He quickly established himself on the PGA Tour, winning his first tour event in 1987. He was later to be in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings for several years.
Love has won eighteen events on the PGA Tour, including one major championship, the 1997 PGA Championship. He also won the Players Championship in 1992 and 2003. As of February 2006 he was fourth on the PGA Tour career money leaders list with earnings of more than $31 million.
Davis III is the founder of "Love Golf Design," a golf course architecture company and has also published a book "Every Shot I Take."
He currently resides in St. Simons Island, Georgia with his wife and two children.
