He is known as the "Miracle Boy" and has won at least 20 world titles. Mirra has won more X-Games medals than any other X-Games athlete. He surpassed legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk in total medal count in 2004.
Mirra endorses dozens of products and has his own BMX video game series; "Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX". Dave Mirra landed the first ever double backflip in a street competition at the 2000 X-Games. .
Mirra released a book documenting his life story in 2003 as a photo biography and he titled it "Mirra Images".
Also in 2003, Mirra was "Punk'd" by Ashton Kutcher's camera crew when actors posing as IRS workers attempted to convince him he was going to be convicted of fraud.
At the 2005 Summer X-Games, Mirra plated his BMX in 24k gold and it was featured in a Wendy's commercial.
In 2006, Mirra left his bicycle sponsor of 11 years, and formed his own bicycle company called "MirraCo."
