However, he missed the first two races, but, Wheldon soon became a regular top-10 finisher, culminating in a third-place finish at Texas and earned "Rookie of the Year" title.
In 2005, Wheldon won both the Indianapolis 500 and the Indy Racing League Indycar Series championship, and scored a record breaking six wins (Homestead, Motegi, St. Petersburg, Indianapolis, Pikes Peak, and Chicago) in one season.
