In 2005, he made semis at giant Cloudbreak and perfect Restaurants. He recently made the semi finals at the Bells Beach Easter Classic and is currently is in the top 10 of the WCT. In 1999, Cory Lopez rocked the foundation of the surfing world with one fell swoop. It was during his heat at the Gotcha Pro in Tahiti when the world watched as he two-stroked into the nastiest blue cavern ever witnessed, disappearing into the abyss. By the time he surfaced from that historic ride, the Pipeline was dethroned as the heaviest tube on earth.
Despite being from a tiny town on the outskirts of Tampa, Lopez has thrived, and his creative aerial approach has earned him a spot on the WCT tour alongside his older brother. Last year Cory made a serious run for the World Title before falling just short.
