Bernsen was born in North Hollywood, California to Harry Bernsen, a Hollywood talent agent, and actress Jeanne Cooper, who appeared on The Young and the Restless. His father is of Scandinavian Christian descent and his mother was born on a Cherokee reservation.

Corbin Bernsen's big break would appear to be his role on the soap opera, Ryan's Hope, on which he appeared for three years in the mid-1980s. He was propelled into stardom however when he was cast as one of the stars on the hit primetime Steven Bochco television series L.A. Law. He was one of the few actors to remain on the show from 1986 until the show's end in 1994. He also was a primary character in the feature film Major League and its sequels. Since 2004, he has played the recurring role of John Durant on General Hospital and the role of Jack Sherwood on "Cuts." Was on ABC's "Celebrity Mole" twice. In 2006, appeared as a lawyer on ABC's Boston Legal"

Corbin is involved with Public Media Works which is releasing their first feature film Carpool Guy on DVD in 2005.

Bernsen is married to British actress Amanda Pays. They have four children, Oliver, twins Henry and Angus, and Finley. Bernsen was previously married to Brenda Cooper.

Bernsen is a born-again Christian who also appears in Christian-themed films and programs.

Has one of the largest collections in the world of snow globes, over 6000.
