Chuck is the subject of a new A&E Biography and a movie based on his best-selling autobiography, "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" which is being directed by George Clooney.
Barris rose quickly through the television industry not stopping until he was one of the most famous TV producers in Hollywood. Chuck is also Chairman and CEO of Barris Industries, a publicly traded company. Critics hated Barris's shows, but the audiences were fascinated by them and couldn't help but watch them.
Barris also changed the television industry behind the scenes when a network dropped a show before it ever aired, Barris bought it back as a pilot and sold the show to local stations one at a time and this is how first-run syndication was born. First-run syndication is now a multibillion-dollar industry.
Barris moved to France after selling his business and began writing, he continued his writing in Saint Tropez for ten years. Chuck currently lives in Manhattan and has won a battle with lung cancer.
