Chris Mortensen is one of today's greatest sports journalists. His experience in the sports world puts him at the top of what he does. Chris began his journalism career in 1969 with the South Bay Daily Breeze and then moved on to work for the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Chris made a name for himself in 1991 when he made his first appearance with ESPN.
Since then, Mortensen has provided reports for the network's Emmy Award-winning programs NFL GameDay and Outside the Lines. Chris can also be seen on ESPN's Sportscenter, ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, and has a column on ESPN.com. He has also served as an analyst for ESPN's coverage of the NFL draft.
In 1987, he was honored with the George Polk Award for his reporting, and he remains the sole sportswriter to receive the award since Red Smith in 1951. Chris has received 18 awards in journalism and has been nominated for two Pulitzer Prizes.
Chris is also the author of the book "Playing for Keeps: A True Story About Football, Playoffs and the Mob." Mortensen attended El Camino College and then went on to serve two years in the United States Army.
