Charles Howell III is an American golfer and member of the PGA Tour. He grew up in Augusta, Georgia, the hometown of the Masters Tournament. He was also a member of Augusta Country Club.
Howell III attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the golf team. In 2000, he was a part of the winning team and also the individual winner at the NCAA Golf Championships.
He turned professional that summer and finished third in his professional start on the PGA Tour. In 2001, he was the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. To date, he only has one PGA Tour title but is still regarded as one of the most promising young American golfers.
In 2002, he finished ninth on the PGA Tour money list. He has also been featured in the top 20 of the Official World Golf Rankings and was a member of the United States Presidents Cup team in 2003.
