Bob Paris is a bodybuilder and model that won the 1983 Mr. Universe contest. Paris is also a gay rights activist.
Paris came out as a gay man in the July 1989 issue of the bodybuilding magazine Ironman. Paris married former Playgirl model Rod Jackson, and changed his last name to Jackson-Paris for a short while, only to divorce Jackson in 1996.
Bob Paris grew up in Indiana, playing high school football and track events. That is where his body building journey began. After Paris officially came out as gay, he and Jackson became involved in gay marriage advocacy and wrote several books on the subject, as well as made many television and magazine appearances along the way.
Today, Bob Paris is still a strong gay rights advocate as well as a motivational speaker. In addition to his civil causes, Bob is also a part time actor. On October 10, 1998, Bob made his New York stage debut, starring at Carnegie Hall opposite Bea Arthur, Sandy Duncan and Tyne Daly in the Broadway musical, Jubilee as the character Mowgli.
