Bob Jenkins is a television and radio sports announcer. He is best known for his work at ABC and ESPN calling NASCAR and IndyCar telecasts. Jenkins was one of the original anchors on ESPN when it debuted in 1979. He stayed with ESPN until 2003 working mainly as a senior member. While at ESPN, Jenkins also worked on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network as well as an announcer of the Brickyard 400.
After being released from ABC/ESPN in 2003, Jenkins went to work for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in various roles such as track announcer and host of many public relations events. After leaving Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he went on to join the Speed Channel as one of the anchors for Speed News.
In June 2006, Jenkins was released from his contract by Speed Channel and today his future broadcasting plans are unknown.
You can also find Jenkins in two movies. He was a race announcer in "Days of Thunder" and played a news anchor in the new movie "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby."
Jenkins is a cancer survivor and lives in the Indianapolis area with his wife Pam.
