Bo Bice is a singer and musician who participated in the fourth season of American Idol, resulting as the runner up to Idol winner Carrie Underwood.
Bo's first single was released in June of 2005, featuring his version of "Inside Your Heaven". The single debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. His solo album, The Real Thing, debuted in December 2005, opening at #4. The record holds the sixth-highest opening for a debut album by a finalist of the reality show.
Bice is the third non-winner to meet reasonable success in record sales. Bice has appeared on Carlos Santana's album All That I Am on the song "Brown Skin Girl". In 2006, he also made a guest appearance on an episode of The Fairly Odd Parents. RCA Records and the Creative Artists Agency currently represent him.
Bice has been one of the oldest contestants to audition and participate on American Idol, as well as being the oldest to progress that far in the singing competition. Even though Bice did not fit into the American Idol mold with his rocker musical approach and appearance, his early performance of "Whipping Post" established him as one of the favorites in the competition.
Upon graduating, Bice turned professional. He performed in shows all across the US, the United Kingdom, and Europe. He performed solo and in rock groups such as Purge, Blue Suede Nickel, and Sugar Money, which is his current band. He has also opened for Blackfoot and Warrant and has performed live and recorded with Johnny Neal, of The Allman Brothers Band.
Governor Bob Riley in Alabama declared "Bo Bice Day" on May 24.
