Archie Griffin is a legendary halfback from Ohio State and is the only player in college football history to win the Heisman Trophy twice. He is generally regarded among the greatest college athletes of all time.
During his incomparable college career, Griffin also won The Big 10 MVP Award twice, was named the UPI Player of the Year twice, the Walter Camp Foundation Award twice and the Maxwell Award in 1975.
Griffin won four Big Ten Titles with Ohio State, started in four Rose Bowls. As a sophomore, Griffin rushed for 1,428 yards, 1,620 as a junior and 1,357 as a senior. His overall total was an incredible 5,177 yards and was an all time record. Griffin rushed for 100 yards in 31 consecutive and finished with 6,559 all-purpose yards.
The Cincinnati Bengals chose Griffin in the first round of the NFL Draft. He played seven seasons in Cincinnati. During that time, he rushed for 2,808 yards, caught 192 passes for 1,607 yards, returned 22 kickoffs for 461 yards, and scored 13 touchdowns (7 rushing, 6 receiving). He also played in Super Bowl XVI with the Bengals after the 1981 season.
Griffin is currently the President of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. Formerly, he served as Assistant Athletic Director for The Ohio State University.
