Annie Dillard is a modern-day mystic. Her famous book, "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek," won a Pulitzer Prize. Annie uses stories of her experiences while living by Tinker Creek to speak about the human condition and our relationship with the Divine.
Annie Dillard is a highly skilled writer. It has been said that her prose pulls you into the event she is describign - making the reader feel as if they are there with her. Dillard brings knowledge into her discussions from the whole spectrum of thought by referencing physics, numerous religious disciplines, literature, medicine, anthropology and folklore to name some sources.
Annie Dillard is an avid reader and often reads over 100 books a year, on just about any topic imaginable. Dillard attended Hollins College. After her college years, Annie became interested in all forms of spiritualism, including Christianity, Sufism, Buddhism, the Eskimo's religious system, Hasidic Jews and many others, as she incorporated many beliefs of each into her own spiritual view.
Some of Dillard's other works includea volume of poetry called "Ticket for a Prayer Wheel," and "An American Childhood," the autobiography of her early years. Her writing continues to meet with critical acclaim. Dillard now works in an adjunct professor capacity at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and as a writer-in-residence.
