Amarillo Slim Preston is known as a living poker legend.

His first love was pool not poker. Amarillo started his career out as a pool hustler and made a lot of money. It is said that he won five Cadillacs in San Francisco in one week playing pool.

He list Professional Pool Player as his occupation, but he began focusing on card games in 1950 when pool became less lucrative.

Amarillo won the world poker title in 1972. Amarillo has been the guest on numerous talk shows and is known as the best ambassador for the game of poker.

Not only is Amarillo Slim a great pool hustler and poker player, he is also gifted story teller. Those who have read his autobiography "Amarillo Slim in a World Full of Fat People" highly recommende the book for great reading.

Amarillo is a member of the poker Hall of Fame, the Legends of Nevada, the Seniors Hall of Fame, and the Horseshoe's Hall of Fame. He played himself in the movie California Split, and has had a song written about him by John Lutz Ritter called "Do You Dare Make a Bet with Amarillo Slim?"
