Amanda Borden graduated summa cum laude from ArizonaStateUniversity with a degree in early childhood education, though she was unable to compete under NCAA rules because of her professional athlete status from promotional work.
Borden spent six years on the US women's national team in 1990 and from 1992 to1997. She competed in the 1993 World Championships, and made the event finals on the uneven bars in the 1994 World Championships before leading the United States to gold in the 1996 Olympics.
Borden opened Gold Medal Gym in Tempe, Arizona in May 2004, and is an active coach. She is also a commentator on CBS Sports, Fox Sports, Turner Broadcasting, and ESPN for gymnastics and cheerleading events.
Borden also is a guest speaker at the International Gymnastics Camp every summer.
