Alexi Lalas is one of the most famous soccer players in the United States. Lalas made a name for himself in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Alexi has always had a passion for soccer since he was a young child.
Lalas attended Rutgers University where he led his team to the Men's Soccer Championship in 1990. While at Rutgers he was a three-time All-American, won the Hermann Award, as well as the Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year Award.
Lalas then moved on to play with teh U.S. National Team and was a member of the 2004 World Cup team. His wild red hair, outgoing personality, and consistency on the field made him a fan favorite. In 1995, Alexi was named U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year. His career with Major League Soccer included stops with the New England Revolution, MetroStars, Kansas City Wizards, and the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Most recently, Lalas has been a commentator for ESPN and ABC Sports for the coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
