Arthur J. Rolnick is senior vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, and serves as an associate economist with the Federal Open Market Committee, the monetary policymaking body for the Federal Reserve System. In 2003 he was an adjunct professor of economics in the executive MBA program at Lingnan College in Guangzhou, China. He has also served as an adjunct professor of economics at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and at the University of Chicago.
Art holds undergraduate degrees in mathematics and economics from Wayne State University and was awarded a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Minnesota. His research interests include banking and financial economics, monetary policy and history, and the economics of federalism and education.
Art has long been a member of several nonprofit boards in the Twin Cities, including the Minnesota Early Learning Foundation, Minnesota's Council of Economic Advisors, and Ready 4 K, an advocacy organization for early childhood development. He is also a member of the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Board of Economists and a member of the National Scientific Council on the Developing Child. A recipient of numerous awards for his work in early childhood development, Art was named Minnesotan of the Year by Minnesota Monthly magazine in 2005.
