Tony spent 15 of the 16 with the Chicago BlackHawks. After attaining all-American status each year in college, Tony totaled 76 regular-season shutouts as a pro.
The BlackHawks never failed to make the playoffs while he was on their team. In 1972, Tony was a goaltender on Team Canada in the Summit Series and again 1981 during the Canada Cup for Team USA.
By 1983-84, Esposito was the the only player in the league over 40 years of age making him the oldest player. After being released from the Hawks in 1984, he was made director of hockey operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Tony was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988 and will be best remembered as one of the true pioneers among netminders in the NHL.
Tony is the brother of Hall of Famer Phil Esposito.
