Oliver has devoted a large majority of her career writing and directing for theater. She was a co-founder of the General Nonsense Theater Company and a founding member of Alarm Dog Rep. Her plays include Office, Dreams Are Funny, Calypso and VW as well as stories for young adults.
She holds a Bachelors degree in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Masters degree in acting and directing from Florida State University.
Oliver joined the writing staff of Six Feet Under in 2003 where she was quickly appointed the position of Story Editor with writer Craig Wright. In 2005, she was appointed to co-producer during the fifth and final season. She has written 5 episodes for the series including the Season 4 finale, Untitled and Ecotone which won the Fan Favorite episode on HBO.com.
