Carol Heiss Jenkins is an American figure skater. She began skating at the age of six, in Queens, New York. Carol gained popularity at the age of 11 when she won the U.S. Novice Ladies Championship. From there she went on to win the U.S. Junior Ladies title in 1952, and then in 1953 moved up to the senior level. From 1953-1956, Carol finished 2nd at the National Championships which qualified her for the 1956 Winter Olympics where she won silver. At the 1960, Winter Olympics, Carol won the gold medal.
Besides her two medals at the Olympics, Carol also carries five consecutive world titles, and four consecutive U.S. titles. She retired from figure skating after her gold medal at the 1960 Olympics.
After retiring, Carol played the female lead in the movie "Snow White and the Three Stooges." She also briefly performed in ice shows and returned to her hometown to teach figure skating. Today, she is married to former figure skater Hayes Alan Jenkins.
