In 1970, Moore's very first season at California State-Fullerton, she led the team to the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national title. In eight seasons at Cal State (1969-77), Moore compiled a remarkable 140-15 record (.903) and won eight consecutive conference titles.
Billie Moore continued her coaching successes at UCLA for 16 seasons (1977-93), compiling a 296-181 record (.621). Moore led UCLA to the 1978 AIAW national title. Moore became only the eighth coach in women's basketball history to reach 400 wins. Moore's overall coaching record is 436-196 (.690). Moore also coached the first U.S. Olympic women's basketball team in 1976 to a silver medal.
Moore was recently inducted in the inaugural class of the newly constructed Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, TN.
