United We Dream Co-Founder Christina Jimenez Moreta Gives Commencement Address at Alma Mater This Spring

United We Dream co-founder Christina Jimenez Moreta is coming home. She is serving as the commencement speaker at her alma mater, Queens College, on May 31. 

QC President Felix V. Matos Rodriguez said in a statement that Jimenez Moreta embodies the school's motto, "We Learn so That We May Serve." She graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's in political science. 

Last year, Jimenez Moreta received the political science department's Distinguished Service Award. She graduated from QC as an undocumented student, which continues to fuel the conversation she has today. 

As the co-founder and executive director of United We Dream, Jimenez Moreta leads the largest immigrant youth-led organization in the country. She often talks about the challenges her family faced living undocumented in the U.S. 

Jimenez Moreta has led the change in how immigration and social justice organizing is addressed. UWD boasts over 400,000 members and 48 affiliates in 26 states. 

In 2014, Jimenez Moreta was named one of Forbes' "30 under 30 in Law and Policy." She was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 2017.
