This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown is one of the hottest names right now in Hollywood and his alma mater is taking notice. He will be the spring commencement speaker this year at Stanford University.

The ceremony takes place on June 17. Brown's appearance was announced by Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne while Brown and his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe, were on campus for a speaking engagement last month.

Brown originally began his Stanford journey as an economics major, but caught the acting bug and graduated with a degree in drama. Tessier-Lavigne expressed excitement about welcoming the standout back to campus.

“Sterling K. Brown is an eloquent role model for an entire generation, inspiring us with moving performances that not only bring life to each character, but also impart to the world a deeper understanding of our society,” said Tessier-Lavigne. “I am so pleased that Sterling will be coming back to Stanford this June to further inspire all of our graduates at Commencement.”

While Brown began his acting career in the early-2000s, he has recently received great critical acclaim for several roles. He received an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award last year for his performance in This Is Us

Brown became the first African American to win in the Best Actor in a Drama TV Series category at the Golden Globes. He won his first Emmy as part of the cast of the FX miniseries, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

Brown began his career appearing on shows like ER, NYPD Blue and JAG. From 2007-13, he appeared in the Lifetime series, Army Wives
