Elvira is one of those names that needs no further description. The woman behind the pop culture phenomenon, Cassandra Peterson, has built a loyal following for decades. 

On December 15th, her New York City fans will get another chance to interact with this legend. Elvira will be at the Barnes & Noble on the Upper West Side at 7 p.m. signing copies of her book, "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark." 

The large collector's book features 240 pages of classic photos from her career. Those who purchase a book will receive priority seating for event. 

With the launch of "Elvira's Movie Macabre" in 1981, Peterson became a star through her iconic character. The show that started out on Los Angeles local television eventually became nationally syndicated. 

An entire licensing industry sprouted up around Elvira. Throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s, there were Halloween items, action figures, dolls calendars and much more made with her likeness. 

Elvira-mania may have reached its zenith with the 1988 feature film, "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark." She is still beloved today around the world by legions of fans.
