MaKey MaKey founder Jay Silver is one of leading innovators in the country. He is also a native of Florida's Space Coast, a region long known for charting a course to the impossible through the space program.

On December 6th, Silver got the unique opportunity to speak in Melbourne. He was on-hand from 5:30-8 p.m. as a guest of Groundswell Startups.

Silver certainly relished the opportunity to speak to other outstanding technology entrepreneurs. Those in attendance were able to draw inspiration from the local kid who has hit big on several ideas.

With MaKey MaKey, Silver created a toy that allows users to connect everyday items to computer programs. He is also the inventor of Drawdio, which was named one of the "Top 15 Toys for Young Geniuses" by Time in 2011.

Silver is also known for being the first maker research scientist at Intel. He holds a master's and Ph.D. from MIT's Media Lab.

Silver was named Engineer of the Year while pursuing his bachelor's degree at Georgia Tech. He is on the board of directors for Maker Ed, One Day on Earth and the Transformative Tech Lab.
