Bestselling Author Valaida Fullwood Speaks at MLK Unity Breakfast

Bestselling author Valaida Fullwood recently got to share some reflections on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She was the speaker at an MLK Unity Breakfast. 

The event was held at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock, North Carolina. There were approximately 300 people in attendance. 

The theme was "Keeping the legacy alive." There were also several musical performances in addition to Fullwood's presentation. 

Fullwood released her first book, Giving Back, in 2011. It was voted one of the 10 Best Black Books of 2011 and received the 2012 McAdam Book Award. 

Fullwood has since become a leader on the topic of African American philanthropy. She is a founding member of the New Generation of African American Philanthropists. 

Before becoming an author, Fullwood became a manager for international economic development projects for major corporations. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
