Next week, bestselling author Michael Tougias will be talking about a couple of his books in Massachusetts.  He will be in Mattapoisett on July 8th at Old Rochester Regional Junior High School.

From 7-9 p.m., Tougias will be in the media center.  He will discuss, "The Finest Hours: The True Story of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Most Daring Sea Rescue,” and his new book, “So Close to Home".

The free talk is sponsored by the Freinds of the Mattapoisett Library.  A book signing will follow Tougias comments.

Tougias has either authored or co-authored 25 books.  One of those that he is talking about, The FinestHours, was adapted for film and released by Disney in January.

Tougias started writing as a syndicated outdoors writer in 1990 and published his first book in 1998.  He often travels the country to give talks about his books and present survival stories from the shipwreck survivors he has talked with.

Tougias is a Massachusetts native who still resides in the state.  He holds a bachelor's degree from Saint Michael's College after attending Boston College.
