Bestselling author Ann Hood held a book signing in her hometown last month. She was in West Warwick, Rhode Island for the reading and signing at West Warwick Public Library.

She was able to share some details behind her memoir, "Morningstar: Growing up with Books." The book talks about her small town upbringing and her passion for books.

The event was especially unique because the host library was the place where Hood's passion for reading began. She took out books every Tuesday night during her childhood.

Hood has published an array of different works but is best known for her 14 novels. Her first novel, Somewhere Off the Coast of Maine, was released in 1987.

Hood is also a regular op-ed columnist for The New York Times. She teaches in the MFA in Creative Writing program at The New School in New York City.

Hood has also taught at New York University. She is the recipient of the Paul Bowles Prize for Short Fiction and two Pushcart Prizes.
